Bravery

Thoughts
about Bravery:
Courage to face
what ultimately we must
face in this changing world.

It
might mean
taking the opportunity
to have faith that
all is really well in
context with the entire changing universe.

Soldiers
who receive
medals often feel
the same as you do–
their circumstance having given them no choice.

Above,
you see
your Grandpa J’s
two good conduct medals
but not his two bronze
stars, which indicating repeated great valor,
though they’re listed in his discharge papers.
Grandpa only talked about fear fighting over Italy.

Yet
under the
same circumstances some
do respond with cowardice
being selfish more than selfless.
Both are traits of the human
condition, which we all invariably must claim.
